Leksykon osobisty Marka Kijewskiego i Małgorzaty Malinowskiej 1-2

Kijewski / Kocur

Marek Kijewski (1955-2007, graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw) and Małgorzata Malinowska (1959, graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk) were cooperating since 1996 as Kijewski/Kocur duo in Warsaw, Poland. They were exploring various fields of contemporary visual culture, using an original, self imposed strategy called SSS – surfing, scanning, sampling. They were creating spectacular collage spatial forms out of such materials like Lego bricks, Haribo sweets, artificial fur, feathers, neon tubes, precious stones and 24-karat gold. They were freely compiling things commonly defined as „high” with what is „low”, crossing without embarrassment the boundaries between culture orders, by contructing wild aestheticly-semantic hybrids.

Since Kijewski’s death (2007) Małgorzata Malinowska maintains the old artworks made in the time frame of their collective creation, finalizes these, which were begun and realizes those, which were in the projects so far.
